Job overview

We have an opportunity to join the Bed and Transport Bureau at James Cook University Hospital.

The Bed and Transport Bureau is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is part of the Patient Flow Team portfolio.

You will administer and process requests for emergency admissions from relevant internal/external sources, as well as booking and coordinating transport requests for patients out of hours. In addition there will be a requirement to enter data onto databases and utilise systems such as e-camis and the new system to be implemented MIYA to enable the distribution of daily reports as well as supporting the patient flow team with administration tasks on a daily basis.

You will be required to effectively communicate with a number of stakeholders both internally and externally to the organisation.

Main duties of the job

Be the call handler and process requests for emergency admissions.

Co-ordinate out of hours transport for patients leaving the organisation.

You will be required to effectively communicate with a number of stakeholders both internally and externally to the organisation.

Support the patient flow site team with daily task to promote smooth patient flow.

You will be supported on a daily basis by the Patient Flow Lead and Site Resource Manager.

You will be required to be educated to GCSE Level C in Maths and English or equivalent.

  • GCSE’s A-C or equivalent qualification or experience
  • NVQ 2 in Business Administration or equivalent experience

Knowledge

  • Excellent telephone communication skills
  • Competence in the use of Microsoft office
  • Ability to cross reference information and pay attention to detail.
