News anchor Katia Uriarte is jumping into a new role with the Diocese of Corpus Christi. Katia Uriarte, formerly a KRIS 6 News anchor, will join the Diocese of Corpus Christi as the director of communications and public relations, the diocese announced Tuesday, June 28, 2022.

After nearly two decades in the Coastal Bend, KRIS 6 News anchor and journalist Katia Uriarte left KRIS Communications in May to spend more time with her family. “What an honor it has been these past 18 years to have been welcomed into your homes as a trusted news source and hopefully as a friend,” Uriarte said.

After 18 years as a news anchor, Katia Uriarte confirmed her departure from KRIS 6 News and is now the communications director for the Catholic Diocese.
