If you love the flavor of coffee and peanut butter, this coffee recipe is worth trying out yourself.

You can make this drink however you like and customize it to taste with your preferred sweeteners or other add-ins, which I’ll discuss further down.

Before getting into the recipe, let’s go over the ingredients that you need to make this delicious coffee drink at home:

What ingredients are needed to make peanut butter coffee?

For this easy-to-make recipe, you’ll need three main ingredients:

  • Brewed coffee– I like to use a French press because it gives the best flavor, but any way will do.
  • Peanut butter– All-natural creamy peanut butter is my favorite. It has no added sugars, so you can also taste your home-brewed coffee!
  • Milk of choice– You can use any milk. I’m using whole milk for a full and creamy flavor.

In five minutes, the above-listed ingredient will make the easiest and most delicious peanut butter coffee.

Optional sweeteners and flavors can be added as desired. Some people like to add chocolate or cinnamon for extra flavor.

Cocoa powder is also a great add-in to your peanut butter coffee.

You can also experiment with different natural flavors by adding honey or maple syrup to your coffee.

I like to top my iced peanut butter coffee with a serving of whipped cream. It’ll add a bit of sweetness, and it looks amazing when serving it to your guests!

What is the best brewed coffee to use?

There are two main ways to brew coffee at home – drip and immersion. Both options will work remarkably well when trying out this recipe at home.

With drip coffee, you add ground coffee to a paper or metal filter that’s placed in a cone-shaped brewing device. Hot water is then poured over the grounds, and the brewed coffee drips down into a carafe or pot.

With immersion coffee, you add ground coffee to a vessel (such as a French press), then pour hot water over the grounds and let it steep for a few minutes.

After steeping, you use a plunger to push the grounds to the bottom of the vessel and separate the brewed coffee from the grounds.

You can make your coffee as strong as you like depending on the coffee beans you’ll be using.

Have a look below for the coffee roasts that I found work well with this coffee recipe.

Which coffee roasts are best used for this recipe?

Medium and dark roasts are best for peanut butter coffee. A medium roast has a deeper flavor than a light roast and will bring out the chocolate and nutty flavors in the coffee.

A dark roast will have an even richer flavor with more of a bitter cocoa taste, especially when using an extra dark roast.

Either roast will work well with peanut butter, but I personally prefer the taste of a dark roast with peanut butter.

Can you make peanut butter iced coffee?

You can definitely make peanut butter iced coffee at home! You can follow the same steps listed in the recipe below, but you can serve it on ice instead of hot.

I recommend cooling the coffee before mixing all ingredients together, or you can choose to add a few ice cubes to the blender to keep things cool.

Make sure you have enough ice cubes in the freezer so you can serve this coffee as cold as you can!

You can opt to make some coffee ice cubes beforehand. These special ice cubes will slowly release more coffee flavor in your drink instead of diluting it with water.
